I’ve been away in Galway for a week and I haven’t posted in a while, but I’m working on a big project :)

Robb Stark, King in the North, as played by Richard Madden in HBO’s Game of Thrones. this was a lot of fun to paint, mostly stopped due to illness.

I’m a big fan of Dark Souls, a really fun game. The makers are currently running a competition to design a shield that will be in Dark Souls 2, and this is my entry.

LucasArts studios, formerly LucasGames, have closed. Their work was a big part of what got me into gaming, from Monkey Island to Jedi Knight. Rock Paper Shotgun wrote a more cogent obituary than I could. you only have to look at the amount of Lucasarts games on something like the excellent Point Clicking website to see how well loved it was, for good reason.
For me one of the saddest parts is that Disney’s press release said “After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games.” when the people involved with Lucasarts produced so much more than just Star Wars games.

A friend on twitter mentioned this contest on Multiversity: http://multiversitycomics.com/contests/announcing-the-evolution-of-abe-sapien-art-contest/ to draw Mike Mignola’s Abe Sapien character and maybe win library editions of Hellboy as well as have the winning piece actually in an issue of the new Abe Sapien series.
I don’t imagine I’ll win, but if I get through this image will be seen by Mike Mignola, which would be an honour in itself.
